Microsoft Access in Today's Business

Microsoft Access is often overlooked for other technologies because it's considered to have limitations and only practical for small to mid-size businesses. This is a common misconception that I have witnessed in my career as a Microsoft Access Developer. It is much more than a small-scale database, it can be used in a wide-range of different facets to provide businesses with the data solutions that they need at a very affordable cost.

I have designed databases and custom scripts in Microsoft Access to carry-out a wide-range of different functions to meet business requirements from small mom and pop companies to large international corporations. The applications that I have designed throughout my career involved everything from pulling specific data from world-wide ERP systems to enable users to perform targeted analysis to creating an all-in-one business solution that integrated the entire Microsoft Office Suite and could perform functions that would typically hours to perform in seconds with the simple click of a button.

Microsoft Access is a very cost-effective tool that integrates perfectly with the most popular office software in the world (Microsoft Office). Programs can be integrated effectively and flawlessly with such applications as Excel for charts, pivot tables and graphs, Word for mail merges and labels, Outlook for automated e-mails, PowerPoint for automated presentations etc.

I presently have started my own Access Development company (Data Gopher). My company does provide a number of cost-effective business solutions through the use of Microsoft Access. MS Access is more than just a stand-alone database application, which it is arguably mostly known for, it offers a wealth of data functions. One of the greatest assets that I have utilized it for throughout my career has been extracting data from ERP systems to give users the flexibility to produce their own reports and pinpoint the exact datasets that they need. Operations such as this can save a company 10s of thousands of dollars from eliminating the need of having an upgrade performed on an ERP system and paying the additional support fees.

The thing that I have learned from my experience as a Microsoft Access developer is that when it comes to data related operations, there is very little that Microsoft Access is incapable of doing. Access offers a wealth of power when it comes to a company's business requirements. The capabilities of Microsoft Access are overlooked many times and more expensive technologies are used instead. These more expensive technologies typically cost a substantial amount of money whenever upgrades and enhancements are needed. The big benefit of having a Microsoft Access application is that enhancements are generally very cost-effective and less time-consuming to perform.

If your company is in the process of looking at different technologies to perform various data functions whether it is data extraction, data marts, custom reports etc. consider Microsoft Access as a realistic solution. It is an application that is self-contained, integrates well with Oracle, SQL. . Net, MS Office and other applications, it also does not require any type of monthly service fees. It additionally integrated flawlessly with the most popular office suite in the world. A complete business solution that entails data analysis, mailing lists, Power Point Presentations, charts and graphs etc. can be developed with Microsoft Access that is not only cost effective but offers powerful customized solutions for today's business.

How to clear a computer laptop keyboard

How to clear a computer laptop keyboard Before you start cleaning your laptop's keyboard, make sure it is unplugged and powered off. Or is a key does not work well, either did not wear the letters.

The best way to keep your keyboard clean on a regular is to get yourself a can of compressed air, which will safely blow dust right out of the little crevices between your keys. This public school tech support site says:

First, inspect the keyboard for bits of paper and debris. Remove as much as possible with a soft probe such as Q-tip or bent pipe cleaner. Afterwards aim the compressed air can's nozzle between the keys and blow away all of the dust and other debris that has gathered there. Shop for a Mini Laptop: 5 Quick Tips

Although mini laptops are inexpensive, it does not mean you should go ahead and buy the first mini laptop model that comes your way. There is an art to shopping for mini laptops, and if you want to buy a mini laptop, here are some tips to consider:

1.Consider your Specific Needs

There are roughly two types of mini laptops in the market today, Solid State Drives (SSD) mini laptops and Hard Disk Drives (HDD) mini laptops. SSD mini laptops boot faster, are able to withstand impact and are generally more reliable performance-wise. But they are also notorious for having low storage capacities. SSD mini laptops that do have high storage capacities are very expensive. On the other hand, HDD mini laptops can store up to 160GB of data but are less tough than their SSD counterparts . So what does this have to do with you? It's all about your needs and wants. Do you need a fast mini laptop with low storage or a mini laptop with high capacity but boots slower?

2.Consider the Brand

Out in the market, there are many mini laptops brands. ASUS definitely created the mini laptop market in 2007, but Acer, Lenovo, HP, Dell, and MSI followed soon after. Different manufacturers have different reputations, e.g., Asus for small keyboards. Different brands of mini laptops are known for different things, and it does pay if you research on what these are.

3.Windows XP or Linux?

Like the desktop computers where there is a lingering competition between Mac and Windows, there is competition between Windows XP and the different Linux versions. The only difference is that manufactures ship mini laptop models in both operating systems. For practically every mini laptop model, there is a Windows XP or a Linux version. While Linux netooks are known for their stability and security (Linux users rarely, if ever, complain about malware and virus infection on their machines), Windows XP mini laptops have the advantage of popularity. Many computer users are so used to using Windows XP, it's very difficult to switch paradigms to use a Linux. The fact is, users of Linux mini laptops are more likely to return their mini laptops than Windows XP users.

4.Read User Reviews

User reviews give you insight on the actual performance of a netboook. Manufacturers will always hype their product whenever they can to boost sales, so do not expect an objective product review from them. If you want to know the rundown on a particular mini laptop model, read up on independent product reviews by online computer magazines. You can also search for forums on the different mini laptop models.

5.Always Comparison Shop

Never settle for the first price you see on a shopping website. Compare prices from at least three mini laptop sellers before ordering. Some websites are able to sell their mini laptops cheaper than others because they have made larger wholesale orders. Still, others sell cheaper because they are selling second hand. In any case, just make sure you are dealing with a reputable website.
